Frequently asked questions

Do I have to move to Hungary?

Incorporation does not require you to move personally to Hungary, and a Hungarian registered office is required, which we provide. Note: tax residence and obligations in your home country also depend on where the company is effectively managed — check this with your tax adviser.

Do I have to travel to Budapest?

Not necessarily: signatures can often be given with a notarised power of attorney or at a Hungarian consulate. We tell you the best option for your case.

How is a Kft. taxed?

Corporate income tax is 9% of the tax base. Standard VAT in Hungary is 27%; intra-EU supplies of goods can be VAT-exempt when the conditions are met, while B2B services follow the place-of-supply rules. KIVA is an optional regime with its own requirements and tax base. Ask a tax adviser for your case.
